Eleanor Prendergast

December 10, 1950 — December 7, 2025

E. Brooke Prendergast, beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2025, just days shy of her 75th birthday.

Born in Rhode Island on December 10, 1950, to Llewellen and Virginia Cottman, Brooke grew up in South Kingstown, where she attended local schools. For the past 58 years, Narragansett was her home. She found lifelong solace in the intimate beach community, loving long days with her feet in the sand, inhaling the salty air, and enjoying the sounds of the crashing waves.

Brooke was a woman of deep interests. She earned a BA and MBA from the University of Rhode Island (URI) and worked successfully as a manager at APC and Bradford Soap Works. Her passions included the outdoors-camping, canoeing, and fishing, notably her family trips on the Francis Fleet with her grandchildren. In her younger years, Brooke loved body surfing at Narragansett Beach with Dana and Daryl. Additionally, she enjoyed gardening, harvesting homegrown vegetables, and growing wildflowers. Christmas was a favorite holiday for Brooke; she took great joy in baking a variety of holiday cookies and breads to share with family and friends.

A master of sewing and knitting, she created countless items for loved ones, including quilts, blankets, sweaters, and booties. Reflecting her profound love for animals, Brooke also dedicated time to volunteering and fostering dogs with JC Care, a Japanese Chin rescue organization.

Brooke is survived by her daughter, Dana Gerard, and son, Daryl Prendergast, along with her beloved grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and grandnieces. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Bradford Cottman.

Funeral service details will be announced in the spring of 2026. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Brooke's honor to the Animal Rescue League of Rhode Island, reflecting her lifelong love for animals.
