Eleanor M. Martin

Eleanor M. (Harris) Martin passed away peacefully at the age of 69 on Wed. April 10th surrounded by her loving family. Ellie was the 1st Leap Year Baby born in Providence on Feb. 29, 1944 to the late John & Ethel (Devine) Harris. Ellie was the beloved wife of Bruce H. Martin for 42 yrs. She is survived by her sister, Marilyn Brennan & her husband Michael and by her brother Jack Harris and his wife Nancy. Ellie was the beloved mother of B. Scott Martin and his wife Susan, Barry Martin and his wife Gail, Melanie Martin Lawhead, and her husband John and Christopher Martin and fiancée Kerilyn Sabetta. She is survived by her dear grandchildren Amanda & Megan Martin and Makena Lawhead. In addition to being a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many, Ellie was well known as a summer bartender at Champlin’s Seafood Deck in Galilee for 22 yrs. She was everybody’s mom and created a warm home and welcomed everyone with open arms and good food. Ellie loved to cook and there are few people who did not benefit from her love of cooking. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Veronica Chapel, 1035 Boston Neck Rd., Narragansett. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Peace Dale. Visiting hours Friday 5-7 p.m. in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield.
