Eileen M. (McPeak) Ullrich, 88, of Wakefield, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Thursday, March 21, 2024. She was the wife of the late James Ullrich and mother to the late Denise Ullrich. Eileen was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Evelyn McPeak.
Mrs. Ullrich’s career as an elementary school teacher spanned over 30 years. She touched many lives at Blackrock School and formed lifelong friendships with her colleagues in the Coventry School system. Her passion for children continued outside the classroom, caring for nieces and nephews, who she loved very much, and the neighborhood kids.
Eileen’s life was shaped by time at the family beach house as a child, parent, and grandparent in Jerusalem, RI. Fond memories were created with generations of family and friends by the beach. There was never a dull moment with Eileen - telling jokes and sharing stories. Eileen was an avid golfer, playing in many leagues, and enjoyed bridge, cribbage, scrabble, and crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her two children, Jamie Ullrich and his wife Kathy, and Martha Gallagher and her husband Dan, as well as her grandchildren Daniel, Sean, Suki, and Sara, who she cherished, and a brother, Freddy McPeak.
Eileen’s funeral will be held Wednesday, March 27th at 9 AM from the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Romuald Chapel, 61 Atlantic Ave., Matunuck. Her burial will take place on Thursday, March 28th at 11 AM in Greenwood Cemetery, Coventry. Calling hours will be Tuesday, March 26th from 4 to 7 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Beacon Hospice, Meadows Professional Office Park, 1130 Ten Rod Road, Suite A 203, North Kingstown, RI 02852.
