Eileen Eunice Doolan Hames

January 14, 1917 — February 19, 2012

Eileen Eunice Doolan Hames, 95, of Narragansett, died peacefully Sunday, February 19th, surrounded by her family. Born in Melbourne, Australia, she was the only daughter of the late William Patrick and Karen Christine (Nielsen) Doolan. She came to the United States in 1944 and traveled as a Navy wife around the country until settling in Narragansett in 1956. For a time, Mrs. Hames was in charge of running the school cafeteria for the town of Narragansett. After retiring, she was well known as the hostess at her son’s Sunnyside Restaurant. She will be remembered as an avid Red Sox Fan, and loved being surrounded by young people. She had an amazing will and love of life and her children and grandchildren were an immense part of her being. She made terrific wedding cakes and amazing apple pies. She will be missed. She is survived by three sons; Winters B. Hames, III, husband of Carolyn, of Narragansett, RI, Ronald A. Hames, husband of Nancy, of South Freeport, ME, and John W. Hames of Narragansett, RI. There are six grandchildren, WB Hames IV, husband of Emily, Brendan Andrew Hames, husband of Kate, Seamus Owen Hames, husband of Arlene, Sean Doolan Hames, Sara Eileen Hames, and Max Freeman Hames. She also has three great granddaughters, Elizabeth Rose Hames, Ella Eileen Hames and Quinn Catherine Hames. One brother, Ronald Doolan, still lives in Brisbane, Australia. She was the sister of the late Richard, Albert, William, and John Doolan. Visiting hours will be at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Saturday, 3-6 PM. Please come. Funeral and burial will take place in Belleview, Florida.
