Eileen Degnan

Eileen Degnan, 92, of Narragansett, passed away peacefully Monday September 8th. She was the beloved wife of Joseph R. Degnan, Sr., for 65 years.

Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Justin and Mary (Alger) Brodie.

Mrs. Degnan taught 2nd Grade at St Augustine School in Providence for over 25 years.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by five children, Joseph Degnan, Jr. (Jane Ann), Mary Degnan (Joseph Piro), Jane Ryan (Michael), Colleen McCarthy (John), and Michael Degnan (Marsha); sixteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Very Reverend Justin Brodie O.P. and Marie Bisson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Friday September 12th at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, Narragansett. Burial will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours are at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Thursday September 11th, from 4:00pm-7:00pm.
