E. Jaquelin Davies, 91, of North Kingstown, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2025. Born on Staten Island N.Y., she was the daughter of the late John J. and Eileen (O’Kelly) O’Connor. Mrs. Davies was a 1955 graduate of Wells College, Aurora N.Y. Jackey and her family moved to the Ocean State in 1965 living in Smithfield, South Kingstown, and finally North Kingstown.
Jacquelin was an avid outdoor person, always walking and socializing in her beloved Cedarhurst community. She also enjoyed kayaking, swimming, paddle boarding, and gardening well into her 80s, saying these activities kept her ‘young’. A life-long lover of horses, her most special was ‘Daniel’. She purchased the retired Canadian racing thoroughbred in 1994 at age 60. Over the next 19 years they spent countless hours together competing at shows and many Hunter Paces. When not competing, they would go on trails and beach rides with her friends from various stables in South County.
Her other happy place was Christ the King Church in Kingston where she was devoted to her Christian faith and community. ‘Ms Jackey’ as she was known by some, was always involved in helping with anything that was needed to help keep the church thriving. She always felt like she was part of a friendly, active, and welcoming congregation.
She is survived by her children, Laura McCarty and her husband Richard of Goshen, CT, Drew S. Davies and his wife Susan of North Kingstown, Jeffrey W. Davies of Wakefield, and Gregg C. Davies of East Greenwich. Jackey was grandmother to Kelsey, Sarah, Graham, Connor, and Emily and great grandmother to Nora, Lila, Rory, Reese, and Jack. She is predeceased by her son, Timothy J. Davies and her brother Donald J. O’Connor of Denver, CO.
Visitation for Jacquelin will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025 from 9:15 to 10:15 am in Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield.
