Edward Mason Young

December 9, 1920 — July 14, 2009

Edward Mason Young, 88, of Slocum, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2009. He was the husband of Bernice (Walmsley) Young. Born in Exeter, he was the son of the late Walter Hazard and Josephine S. Reels. Mr. Young was an Army Veteran of World War II. He worked at the Wakefield Branch Company for 47 years and for over 50 years, he also served as caretaker & gardener for many historical cemeteries in South County. Besides his wife, he is survived by his son Merrill; daughters, Joyce Young, Diana LaFrance, and Lorraine Bailey; 24 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and many more great-nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late, Jane Perry, Myra Mae Whitford, Alice V. Cooper Whitford, Virginia Lucille Whitford, Edna Walmsley, Jennie Young, Charles H R Young, Jr., Leonard Young, Joseph Young, Fulton Young, Harry Young, Annie Hazard, Mildred Hazard Sekator, Lillian Hazard, Ella Hazard Fry, William Alfred Hazard, Harold Hazard and Eugene Hazard; and the father of the late, Ronald, Rodney and Wayne Young. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at 11:00 AM in Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield. Family and Friends may call on Friday, July 17, 2009 from 6-8 PM. Burial will be in Old Fernwood Cemetery, Kingston.
