Edward Timpson, 81, of Narragansett, founder of Timpson Excavating and owner of Herb’s Earth Farm passed away Wednesday at home. He was the husband of the late Geraldine May (LeCour) Timpson and the late Teresa “Terry” Ann (Gilbert) Timpson. Born in Slocum, he was son of the late James and Elizabeth (Brown) Timpson. Mr. Timpson founded his business Timpson Excavating in 1974 and in 1991 opened Herb’s Earth Farm with his late wife Terry. He will be fondly remembered by family and friends for his generosity, strong character, and his sense of humor. He is survived by his partner, Denise Viens; four sons, Edward G. Timpson and his wife Susan of Windsor, NH, John D. Timpson and his wife Janet, Brian R. Timpson and his wife Dawn, all of Narragansett, and David Ferrare of South Kingstown; a sister in law Michele Callan of Little Compton; a brother James P. Timpson of Florida; thirteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late William B. Timpson, Robert W. Timpson, and John J. Timpson, and father-in-law of the late Linda (Smith) Timpson. A funeral service will be held at 11 am Tuesday in the First Baptist Church of Narragansett, 305 Kingstown Road, Narragansett. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Peace Dale. Visiting hours are at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Monday 4-7 pm.
