Edward (Ted) F. Sweet, 53, of Wakefield, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 11, 2019, surrounded by his family at South County Hospital. Ted was born at South County Hospital on February 18, 1965, and graduated from South Kingstown High School in 1983. While in High School, Ted volunteered for the South County Ambulance Corps and began working on the fishing docks in Point Judith, Rhode Island. He worked for over 30 years in the fishing industry. He attended the Fisheries Program at The University of Rhode Island before he became licensed as a Commercial Fishing Boat Captain. Ted fished on many boats and was Captain on The Huntress and The Rayda Cheramie, both from Point Judith. In addition to Teds love of the ocean, he truly enjoyed his family and friends, watching the Patriots play football, and his beloved dog, Queenie. Ted is survived by his mother, Claire M. Sweet of Wakefield, his sisters, Kathleen A. Sweet of Wakefield, and Sharon M. S. Fuller, her husband, William L. Fuller, and their three children, Destiny, Nicolas, and Angelica, of Burlington, CT. Ted is also survived by an aunt, uncles, cousins, and many friends. Ted is pre-deceased by his father, James E. Sweet of Wakefield, Visiting hours will be at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, on Tuesday, January 15th from 4:00 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 10:00 am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High Street, Wakefield. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Point Judith Fishermans Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 3315 Narragansett, RI 02882, or South County Hospital, 100 Kenyon Avenue, Wakefield, RI 02879.
