Edward J. Roth, 94, of Wakefield, died Friday at home. He was the beloved husband of the late Angela “Ann” (Sormanti) Roth. Born in New Haven, CT, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Cuny) Roth. He was a graduate of Hill House High School in New Haven, Ct and earned his BS degree in Education and Philosophy from Providence College. In 1958, he earned his Master’s in Education degree from Rhode Island College. Mr. Roth was a Math and Religion teacher at La Salle Academy and served as an assistant football coach at La Salle. He then became the supervisor of the Elementary Math Program for the Warwick Public School system, retiring in 1976. He served honorably in the United States Army during World War II. He is survived by two sons; Richard E. Roth of Wakefield and Russell J. Roth of Campton, NH; two grandsons, Aaron Roth and Benjamin Roth; five great-granddaughters. He was the brother of the late John Roth, Vincent Roth, Joseph Roth, Madeline Roth, Mary Coleman and Florence Lupoli. Funeral service were private. Burial took place in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
