Edward L. Mccaffrey

Edward L. McCaffrey, 76, of Inkberry Trail, died Thursday. He was the beloved husband of the late Shirley M. (Brown) McCaffrey for fifty-two years. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Edward C. and Fanny (Cooke) McCaffrey. Ed was the Owner/Captain of the F/V Shirley M and a lobsterman out of Galilee for 40 years. His love of the ocean inspired his two sons to follow in his footsteps. He truly valued the many friendships he made among his fellow fisherman over the past 40 years. He was a huge Red Sox and Patriots fan. He also enjoyed golfing and bowling, but his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. He was the loving father of William H. McCaffrey, Edward L. “Ted” McCaffrey Jr., Donna Lee Peterson, Elaine M. Bezak, Susan S. Gould and Christine B. DeFalco; brother of Doris McCaffrey; grandfather of Stephanie, Sheri, Sara, Michael, Kati, Melissa, Raymond Jr., Amy, Holly, Billy Jr., Elizabeth, Matthew and Erin; great grandfather of seven and companion of Laura Gentile. A memorial service will be held Friday at 11:00 AM in St. Peter’s by the Sea Episcopal Church, 72 Central St., Narragansett. Visiting hours will be held Thursday 4-7 PM in the AVERY-STORTI Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. Please omit flowers, donations may be made to Pt. Judith Fisherman’s Scholarship Fund, P.O.
