Edward Hellier

Edward Hellier was born in 1917 and died in mid May 2008 in Rhode Island. He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy and his sister Alice West. He is survived by his sister Margaret Howell, sister-in-law Clover Weeks, son Peter Hellier (Amy), daughters, Susan Hellier (Mike Raymond) and Sarah Boynton (Wentworth), grandson Jeffrey(Megan), great-grandson Logan, special friend Diane Zalis, nieces, Liz, Cathy, and Clare Howell (Bill Hill), Nancy Eugley (Ralph Post), Louise Flint (Bill), nephews, Scott, Rodney (Debby), John (Jamie) and Jason Weeks, and several great-nieces and nephews and several great-great nieces and nephews. Edward was the son of Eva (Gay) and Edward J. Hellier of Rockland, Maine. He attended Exeter and MIT, and earned a degree in chemical engineering. Edward had a wide variety of interests that included botany, ornithology, travel, comparative religions, history, music, mythology, weather, sailing, gardening, hiking, wildflowers and dining out. Edward will be privately interred at the Achorn Cemetery, Rockland, Maine. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be sent to MIT, 77 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA 02139-4307.
