Edward D. Cook, 88, of Hundred Acre Pond Rd, West Kingston, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2016. He was the husband of the late Ruth (Dennis) Cook and Harriett (Camp) Cook. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Paul C. Cook, M.D. and Ella (Deming) Cook. Mr. Cook worked for the U.S. Army Map Service for twenty years and then as a Chemist for the State of Rhode Island Department of Health, Division of Laboratories and RI State Air Pollution Control Lab for twenty five years before retiring. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War; a Scout Master of the Boys Scout Troop Third, Cranston; an Eagle Scout; Past President of the RI Archaeological Society; member of Overseas #40 F Unity Chapter #12 RAM; Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite; Palestine Temple AAONMS; Palestine Shrine: Richard J. Dennis Post #23; Nestelle Chapter #6 OES; AARP; RI Bee Keepers Association; Eastern States Apicultural Society and South County Camp of Gideons. He is survived by a nephew, David Cook of FL and a niece, Martha Yergeau of NY. He was the brother of the late Paul Cook, Jr. A memorial service will be held on Saturday October 1st at 12 Noon in the Quidnessett Baptist Church, 6356 Post Rd., North Kingstown. Burial will follow in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to South County Camp of Gideons, P.O. Box 178, Wakefield, RI 02880.
