Edward J. Casey, 76, of Charlestown, passed away Friday. He was the beloved husband of Deborah (Storti) Casey for 51 years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late John F. and Mary K. (Murray) Casey. After retiring from United Parcel Service, he found his true passion in life. He became the essential and reliable neighbor to many. Edward would look after homes during the winter months, doing minor repairs and making sure the heat was on, and he enjoyed landscaping these properties during the summer months. There were also countless trips to the airport, chauffeuring people to and from their beach homes. Edward enjoyed yard sales and took pride in purchasing something, fixing it up, and then reselling for a profit. He loved the New England Patriots and he considered them to be the best team in the NFL. He was a communicant of St. James Chapel and a member of Teamsters Local 251. Besides his wife he is survived by three daughters and their spouses, Mary Ellen and Russ Piparo of Baltimore, MD, Kara and Mark Palamaras of Vail, CO, and Alicia and Chris Cook of Warwick; three grandsons, Casey, Nickco, and Christopher; a brother and his wife, John and Linda Casey of Cranston; a sister-in-law, Paula Casey of West Hartford, CT; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Daniel, Robert, Richard, and Barbara Casey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 am in St. James Chapel, 2079 Matunuck Schoolhouse Road, Charlestown. Burial will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours will be held in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Wednesday, 4-7 pm.
