Edward Barber

March 14, 1961 — December 29, 2020

Edward Barber III “Pico” of Ashaway, RI passed peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at the age of 59. He was the husband of Laguana (Perry) Barber for 38 years. Born in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late Edward Barber and Inez (Ramsey) Barber. He was a father to three sons, Peco Barber (Jade), the late Nakea Perry, and Cheyenne Perry. He also left behind his sisters Nina Gilbert (Ernest); Paristeen Brito (Joseph); Juanita Barber, and Lakishia Edwards (Lamar). Pico will be forever missed by his grandchildren Misheshau, Sophia, Inez, Alyvia, and Algonquin, and all of his family members and friends. Pico joined the U.S. Marine Corps when he was just 17 years old, and later joined the Army National Guard. After serving, he became the building supervisor at a senior housing facility. From there, he began to deliver medical supplies to those in need. For more than two decades, Pico worked at Foxwoods Casino- beginning in construction and then as a chauffeur, where he was one of the top requested drivers by many of the clients. How could he not be, with his dedication and loving personality. To know Pico, was to love him. After retiring due to medical issues, Pico didn’t slow down. He had become a “country boy” and took great pride in caring for his farm animals. He shared this love with his wife, sons, and grandbabies, whom he loved with all his heart. Pico also took great pride in spending time with his sons fishing and hunting. Though Pico was the only boy in a family of girls, he had many brothers. From his cousins, friends, and “brother-to-brother” family. Pico had a very special bond with his cousin John Beltran, a bond that could not be broken. After the passing of Pico’s father, he also began to develop a special relationship with his uncle, the late Sonny Ramsey. His beloved Uncle Sonny stepped into that father figure role, and it was a great loss, after his passing. Pico, Eddie, Hun, Dad, Poppy, Papa Pek, Big Pico, was one of the most loved and loving people who walked this earth. He will always be remembered and will be missed by so, so many. Due to the pandemic and final wishes of Pico, we will not gather to mourn his loss. He asked that you remember him as you knew him, and keep his family in your prayers.
