Edna Mellen

Edna S. Mellen, 83 of Wakefield, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday December 7th. She was the beloved wife of the late William Mitchell and William Mellen. Born in South Kingstown, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Lucy (Randa) Sullivan. She was a graduate of South Kingstown High School. Mrs. Mellen was employed at the Pier Pharmacy for 26 years, and then CVS Pharmacy in Wakefield for 27 years, until retiring in November of 2016. She was affectionately known as the "Card Lady". In her spare time she enjoyed tending to her flower garden and bird watching. She is survived by a beloved niece, Kathleen Leahy of Wakefield and Cape Coral, FL, as well as many other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two sons, Keith Mitchell and Brian Mitchell, and her sister, Bessie Gardner. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 am in the Avery Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield. Burial will follow in New Fernwood Cemetery, Kingston.
