Edna Ruth Braley

Edna R. Braley, 87, of Narragansett, died Thursday. She was the beloved wife of George Braley. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Edna Read. Mrs. Braley was a long-time volunteer for South County Hospital and the Narragansett Chamber of Commerce. Besides her husband she is survived by a son William King and his wife Joan of Newport, RI and Hartford, CT; three grandchildren, whom she adored, Matthew King and his wife Elizabeth of Kennett Square, PA, Timothy King and his wife Kate of West Hartford, CT, and Allyson King and her husband D. Andrew D’Amico of Brooklyn, NY; her five great grandchildren, Grace, Jack, Reese, Will, and Chloe; a brother Paul Read of Sneadsbury, NC; and two sisters, Eileen Dolan of North Kingstown, RI and Margaret Crampton of Yarmouth, MA. A celebration of her life will be held Monday at 10 AM at St. John the Divine Chapel, 20 Church Way, Saunderstown. Burial will be private and visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
