Edna M. Atkinson

Edna M. (Lindberg) Atkinson, 98, of Matunuck Beach Rd., Wakefield, died Saturday at Scallop Shell Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Bernard O. Atkinson. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Clara (Johnson) Lindberg. Mrs. Atkinson was a Corporate Secretary for the former Arnold Hoffman Co. and The Greene Co. for many years before retiring. She was also owner of the Seachest Corner at Snug Harbor Marina for twenty years, a volunteer at South County Hospital and a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church. She is survived by a brother, O. William Lindberg of Sarasota, FL; nieces, Melynnie Cupchak of Saunderstown, RI, Janice O’Donnell of Barrington, RI, Barbara Thompson of West Chester, PA, Susan Steinbauer of East Hampstead, NH, Joanne Zannella of Saunderstown, RI and nephews John Greene of Arvada, CO and Bradford Lindberg of Sarasota, FL, 15 great nieces and nephews and several great-great nieces and nephews. She also leaves step daughters, Victoria Farinella of Sharon, MA and Joyce Keaney of Norton, MA. She was the sister of the late Olive L. Greene and Hope Holbrook. A memorial service will be held Sunday November 28th at 2:00 PM in St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 15 East Beach Rd., Charlestown. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Memorial donations may be made to St., Andrew Lutheran Church or South County Hospital, 100 Kenyon Ave, Wakefield, RI 02879.
