Rev. Edmund W. Fetter, 91, of Little Rest Rd., Kingston, died Saturday at South County Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late E. Aileen (Bedell) Fetter. Born in Michigan, he was the son of the late Newton C. and Blanche (Westbrook) Fetter. Rev. Fetter was a W.W. II US Army veteran. He was a graduate of Colgate-Rochester Divinity School class of 1949. Moving to Kingston in 1953, Rev. Fetter became the Protestant Chaplin at the University of Rhode Island for thirty-three years before retiring. He was very devoted to his work and especially loved counseling the students. After retirement he continued to work and help others. He was a member of Seniors Helping Others and the Kingston Congregational Church. Rev. Fetter enjoyed traveling and maintaining the beauty of his home and yard. He was the caring father of Thomas B. Fetter of Santa Rosa, CA, and Joan K. Fetter of Hope Valley, RI. He thoroughly enjoyed his grandchildren, Kyra Fetter, E. Joseph Almeida and Gus Almeida. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 1 PM Saturday, January 15, 2011 at the Kingston Congregational Church, 2610 Kingstown Rd., Kingston.
