Edith M. Grist

Edith M. (Erickson) Grist, 88, of East Greenwich, passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2018. She was the loving wife of the late Harold L. Grist for 69 years. Born in East Providence, she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Mildred Kenyon (Grant) Erickson. Edith graduated from East Providence High School. Edith enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, crocheting, crafting and spending time with her family. After living in Barrington, RI, Media, PA, Glen Ellyn, IL, Lutherville, MD, Allison Park, PA, Broken Arrow, OK and Thornton, PA, she and Harold retired to South County where they enjoyed more than 30 years of active retirement. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels for 16 years and was an engaged member of Wakefield Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Paula J. Grist, her husband, Mark Vaughan and daughter-in-law, Sharon Grist, grandchildren Julia and Andrew Vaughan and Mason and Ashlynne Grist. She was predeceased by her son Daniel L. Grist, and her sisters and brothers: Ruth (Erickson) Blades, Philip Leonard Erickson, Doris (Erickson) Valliere, Edward Earle Erickson, Sheila (Erickson) Klatt and Charles Marcus Erickson. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Wakefield Baptist Church, 236 Main St, Wakefield, RI 02879. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wakefield Baptist Church.
