Edith F. Barker

Edith F. Barker 84, of Connors Avenue, Westerly, died Tuesday in Bradenton, FL. She was the wife of the late Howard E. Barker. Born in South Kingstown, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Alva (Card) Fitzgerald. Mrs. Barker was an Elementary School Teacher in the Stonington CT School System, retiring in 1972. She was an active member of the Westerly-Pawcatuck 7th Day Baptist Church and the Bradenton 7th Day Baptist Church. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, was an avid bridge player and was active in the Westerly Senior Citizens Center. She is survived by a son, Franklin Barker of Westerly; a daughter, Meredith Barker of Glastonbury, CT; a sister, Evelyn Mendenhall of West Virginia; two grandchildren, six great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren A funeral service will be Monday at 10 AM in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, North Stonington, CT. Visiting hours are Sunday 3-5 PM.
