E. Millicent Dobelstein

Emily Millicent (Mill) Porter Dobelstein, 89 of Charlestown joined her late husband and her lord and savior peacefully April 23, 2016. Wife of the late Dr. Russell Dobelstein and daughter of the late Edward Porter and Millicent Mary (Blight) Porter. Mill grew up in Bridgeport CT, raised a family in Trumbull CT, and retired in Charlestown, RI. She was an avid gardener, painter, and with her beloved husband and soulmate Russ, won several Charlestown Chamber of Commerce Outdoor Christmas Lighting Contests. Some of her greatest joys, besides her family, were her friends, her various volunteer activities, her Church, her yard and walking the beach. She is survived and will be sorely missed by her son & daughter-in-law, Ronald Dobelstein, Esq. & Claudia of Alpharetta, GA. Her two daughters and son-in-laws, Karen & Craig Thompson of Charlestown, RI, and Debra & Vaughn “Sandy” Ballard of Charlestown, RI and Mesa, AZ. Her Grandchildren, Meridith, Josh, Melanie, Derek, and Michelle. Her Great Grandchildren, Justin, Lucy, Kendyl, Jase, and Baylin. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 15 East Beach Road, Charlestown, RI, on Friday May 13, 2016, at 3:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation to St. Andrew Lutheran Church (at the above address) would be appreciated.
