Douglas 'Brub' N. Holland, 74, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at his home in Dandridge, TN, where he lived out his retired years. He was the son of the late Douglas Holland, Helen & Alan Card.

Doug, also known as Brub to his close family & friends, was a very proud man... a proud husband, a proud father, a proud grandfather, a proud brother, uncle and friend. He took pride in every aspect of his life, but nothing topped the pride he felt for his family.

He was born in Southington, CT but spent his life living in Rhode Island. He was a traveling man, whether the travels were from his time as a Specialist E4 Army Airborne Paratrooper (where he was also awarded the National Defense Service Medal), a sales position through the mill or making memories with his family. And everywhere he went he made a friend and brought back adventure stories that he would continue to share through the years with those he loved. If you were lucky enough, you would sit out in the garage with him, the woodstove burning and a cold one in hand and you'd get to hear all of the stories. All were always welcome.

Doug's greatest adventure was that of the life he shared with the absolute love of his life, Barbara 'Jeanie' (Rice) Holland (1957-2018). Whenever Jeanie walked into the room or after she passed, if someone spoke of her, Doug's eyes always lit up and he fell in love with her again. She was everything to him.

Together they created a family of four boys who he couldn't have been more proud of... Alan (1981-1993) and Joey, Greg and Justin, who he leaves behind. Every accomplishment the boys made, big or small, you always heard it from Doug. He was the proudest father. His grandchildren Kaiya, Tyler & Cody became Doug's world, he loved them more than anything and they melted his heart.

He is also survived by his siblings Vickie Sherman & husband Steve, Jim Holland & wife Gina, Lois Banks & husband Jerry (1951-1999) and Etta McKiel & husband Randy. He was a loving and loyal brother that they could all count on for anything. He also leaves so many nieces and nephews that he treated and loved like his own.

Outside of his family, you could always find Doug working hard. He never stopped, always keeping busy. He had his projects and loved tinkering with old cars like his beloved Coupe. In his later years of retirement, he loved to find joy in the simpler things like watching the birds or taking drives down the back country roads. At the end of the day, it always came back to the love he had for his family and friends.

For all who knew and loved Doug and would like to pay their respects, services will be held on Friday, August 14th, 2026, from 9-11AM at Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street Wakefield, RI. A burial will follow at New Fernwood Cemetery in West Kingston, RI. A gathering will be held after at the Downey Weaver Post 34, 22 Whipple Drive Charlestown, RI.
