Dorothy Tully

Mrs. Dorothy (Brady) Tully died peacefully at her home in Los Gatos, CA on June 5, 2014 at the age of 90. Dorothy (Dot) was the wife of Thomas Tully and the daughter of Pearl and Bernard Brady of Biddeford, ME. She was the 4th of 11 children. Dot was a 1946 graduate of Gorham State Teacher’s College in Gorham, ME where she received her BA. Teaching was her passion and she began her career at the Stepping Stone Kindergarten in Peace Dale, RI. She then moved to teaching 1st grade at the Wakefield Elementary School until her retirement in 1985. After retirement, Dot enjoyed travelling with friends to different places in the US and world as well as visiting her many children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters spread out across the country. She was an active member of the St. Francis Catholic Church in Wakefield while she lived in Rhode Island. She loved to knit and, after retirement, often combined that with an avid interest in watching the Red Sox play on TV. Dot is preceded in death by her husband Thomas, her parents and eight of her siblings. She is survived by her brother, Robert Brady, and her sister, Jacqueline Gilbert, her two sons, Terry and Dennis Tully, Dennis’s wife Julie, and her daughter, Doreen Finnie and husband Kevin. Other survivors include seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at the Avery Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield, RI, from 5 to 7PM on Thursday, June 12. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High St., Wakefield, RI, on Friday, June 13, at 10:00 AM. Burial will be at the Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter, RI, following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions to the Disabled American Veterans at www.dav.org.
