Dorothy Ann (MacVaugh) Mulholland, 95, died on Thursday, January 28 at South County Hospital. She was the daughter of the late George P. MacVaugh and Anna (Flynn) MacVaugh. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles V. Mulholland for 62 years and the mother of Kathleen Pesta (son-in-law Michael) of Wakefield, Ann Kelley (son-in-law Joseph) of North Kingstown, Barry Mulholland of Cincinnati, Brian Mulholland of Cincinnati and the late Michael J. Mulholland. She also leaves two granddaughters, Martha Pesta Russo of East Greenwich and Amy Pesta Sloan of Cranston. Born in Atlantic City, NJ, she grew up in Taunton, MA where she attended Taunton High School and Bristol County Business College. Her favorite memories of childhood were of her summers spent on Martha’s Vinyard with her beloved cousins, the Donovans. She moved to RI in 1952 and was a parishioner of St. Frances of Assisi parish and later of St. Mary Star of the Sea where she was a Eucharistic Minister to the homebound. She worked for many years at URI as an administrative assistant and later at Our Lady of Peace Retreat House in Narragansett. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels and Seniors Helping Others. She valued faith and family above all things and had a deep love of children. Known for her keen sense of style, she was, nonetheless, often happiest in shorts and sneakers, setting sail on Salt Pond, going for a walk on the beach, or playing badminton in the back yard of her beloved house on Harbour Island which was always filled with love and laughter.
