Dorothy “Dot” or “Dottie” Ann Kindseth, of Point Judith, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully in her home on March 1, 2021, in the loving care of her husband of over 56 years, Bruce R. Kindseth, and their three children. Dot was born in New Orleans on January 4, 1944, the daughter of John J. Conti and Elizabeth “Betty” Conti, both of whom predeceased her. Raised in New Orleans, Dot graduated from Alcée Fortier High School in 1962. Dot met the love of her life in New Orleans and she and Bruce married on February 20, 1965, moving to Enfield, Connecticut, shortly thereafter, where they raised their three children, by whom she is survived, Erik Kindseth of Goffstown, New Hampshire, Stephen Kindseth (Rachel) of Woodbridge, Connecticut, and Elizabeth Rallo of Enfield, Connecticut. Determined to obtain a college education, Dot attended the University of Connecticut in Storrs and graduated summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa and with distinction in 1984, with a degree in Political Science. She then became active in politics, including serving on the Enfield Democratic Town Committee, one term as a Councilor at Large on Enfield’s Town Council and as a volunteer on numerous campaigns in the years that followed. She also worked for 18 years as the Distribution Manager for H.P. Koppleman, in Hartford, Connecticut. The culture and character of New Orleans had a profound impact upon Dot, most of all with her love of food, art, music and the many other ways to celebrate the joys of life – both large and small. She will always be remembered for her passion and unwavering devotion to everything she embraced. Upon retirement, Dot worked with Bruce to design and renovate their current retirement home in the New Orleans style. In retirement with Bruce, she spent most of her time cooking, painting with watercolors, gardening, making jewelry, traveling and spending time with her family. While Dot loved her children, she truly adored her grandchildren, James and Julia Rallo, and Andrew and Evan Kindseth, who provided her with great pride and joy. Dot is also survived by her beloved sisters, Mary Conti Perez and Diane Conti Doolen (Phil), and her younger brother, Charles E. Conti (Paula). She was predeceased by Mary’s husband, V. Joseph Perez III, and her older brother, John H. Conti, who passed away this past year and is survived by his wife, Geraldine. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and other family members who she cherished. A private service will be held by the immediate family. A celebration of Dot’s life will take place in the future when it will be safe to do so. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dot’s memory may be made to the South County Art Association, 2587 Kingstown Rd, Kingston, RI, 02881.
