Dorothy May Holt

Dorothy Brennan Holt of Boston and Narragansett, Rhode Island died on August 25 after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Holt grew up in Providence, RI, the eldest of three children of the late Harry and Charlotte Brennan. After graduating from high school in Providence, she became a legal secretary eventually joining the law department of the National Labor Relations Board in Washington, DC as a special assistant to the Board’s trial department. In 1947, she married Thomas F. Holt, after he returned from military service in WW II. She later became chief financial officer of Dutchland Farm, Inc., a chain of food stores founded by her husband. An avid gardener, she cherished summers spent with her family in Narragansett, where she was a member of the Dunes Club. Mrs. Holt was a communicant of St. Cecilia’s Church in Boston and St. Thomas More Church in Narragansett. She is survived by her husband of sixty -two years, her son, Thomas F. Holt, Jr and daughter-in-law, Jane of Boston. In addition, Mrs. Holt leaves her four grandchildren, Catherine Kolodij of Newton MA, Martha Holt of Providence, Thomas F. Holt III of San Francisco and Andrew Holt of Boston, as well as two great grandchildren, Charlotte and Hollis Kolodij. A funeral mass will be said at 11:00 am Friday, August 28 in St. Thomas More Church, Narragansett, RI. Funeral arrangements are being made by Avery Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, RI.
