Dorothy V. Garvin

Dorothy V. (Harlin) Garvin, 94, of Wakefield, died unexpectedly Friday October 7, 2011. She was the wife of the late John Garvin. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Molly (Nolan) Harlin. Mrs. Garvin was a graduate of Central High School. A kind and compassionate lady, who loved her family, cats, baking and fashion. She was the loving and devoted mother of Elaine Varrecchione and her husband Anthony of St. Pete’s Beach, FL; the late Arthur Ferris and Albert “Butch” Ferris; mother in law of Frances Ferris; grandmother of Karen Allen, Peter Wronoski, Holly, Ryan, Christopher and Kyle Ferris; great grandmother of Michaela and Alyssa Allen. The funeral will be Tuesday 8:30 AM from the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High St., Wakefield. Burial will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Home and Hospice Care of RI, 143 Main St., Wakefield, RI 02879.
