Dorothy F. (Howard) Congdon

Dorothy F. (Howard) Congdon, 85, of South Kingstown, passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2020. She was the wife of the late Charles Congdon. Born in Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Dorothy (Lee) Howard. She was a life- long Rhode Island resident. She grew up in Kingston near the University of Rhode Island. where her father Dr. Frank L. Howard was a professor Dottie received her Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University. Dottie was a dedicated mother and homemaker and enjoyed skiing, tennis, gardening and generally being active indoors and out. She was known for her great sense of humor, enjoying entertaining others and generally having fun! Dottie was an adventurous traveler, traveling to all 50 states and countless countries, many before they became popular destinations. She had wonderful friends, many of whom were dear travel buddies. Dottie’s love of travel inspired her children and her grandchildren to explore and appreciate the planet and respect cultures around the world. She is survived by her younger sister Henrietta Howard, her loving children, Kimberly Congdon, Cameron Congdon, and Gregg Congdon; her grandchildren, Amani Congdon, Asha Congdon, Sasha Congdon-Ng, Jasmine Congdon-Ng, Finn Congdon, Chase Congdon and Deirdre Congdon. A private graveside service will be held. The family will also be making a zoom link available so other close friends and relatives that wish to participate in the service can join virtually.
