Doris Loretta Joan Steadman Yarrington (AKA Dory, G-ma, Dorisauraus, GG) passed away at 95 years young. Doris was born on March 25, 1923 in Peace Dale, RI. She lived in a number of states and countries, including New Jersey, Florida, Iran and St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands. Doris worked at Quonset Point in RI, where she met the love of her life, Wilbur "Snuffy" Yarrington while he was serving in the Navy. They were married for 62 years, living an adventurous life. They were well-traveled, visiting Portugal, South Africa, Western Europe and even Zimbabwe. Doris could regale you with stories about her life for hours (preferably in the sunshine, with a view of the beach, over cocktails). Together they had four children - Bruce, Dennis, Cathy and Terry. Doris is preceded in death by Wilbur, Bruce, Terry, son-in-law Marty, her parents and many family members and good friends. The party currently happening up in Heaven is likely one for the books, and were pretty sure she arrived at the Pearly Gates in full makeup with a margarita in hand. Doris is leaving behind two of her children Cathy and Dennis, her daughter-in-law Kathleen, her grandchildren Lacey, Stephanie, Alison, Daniel (and his wife Julie) and Kristen, her great-grandchildren, Annabelle and Caroline, her sister Yvonne, special nieces Diane and her husband John and Helen and her husband Larry along with beloved cousins, and other family and friends. Doris was a stubborn little spitfire who lived independently until her death, and who still drove her car up until earlier this year (much to our chagrin). She loved to travel, try new cuisines, and most of all spend time with her family. She wore heels in the dead of winter if her outfit called for it, always had her nails and hair done, loved Jeopardy and was an avid reader. She was the most wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She took on the role of mother to Lacey, Stephanie and Alison when their mom, Terry, passed away in 2009. No amount of time with our Doribear would ever be enough, but we are lucky to have shared her love for so many wonderful years.
