Doris E. Safford

Doris E. Safford, 88 formerly of Safford Drive, Charlestown, died Thursday at South County Hospital, Wakefield. She was the wife of the late Harvey C. Safford. Born in Charlestown, she was the daughter of the late Royal and Emilia Rathbone. Mrs. Safford was a librarian and then administrative secretary at the Charlestown School for over thirty years before retiring. She was an active member of the Cross Mills Baptist Church. Doris enjoyed painting and gardening. She loved fishing and clamming on Charlestown Pond. She leaves three sons and their wives, Linwood and Suzann Safford, Forrester and Gail Safford of Charlestown, and Bradley and Nora Safford of Hopkinton; a brother Raymond Rathbone of FL; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Linwood Rathbone. A celebration of life will be held at 10 AM Thursday May 26, 2011 in the Cross Mills Baptist Church, 4403 Old Post Rd., Charlestown.
