Dorcas Tabor

Dorcas Eldred Tabor of Coppell, TX formerly of Arlington, VA died peacefully at her home on September 16, 2015 at the age of 89. She was a native of Wakefield, Rhode Island and graduate of the Northfield Seminary and the University of Rhode Island, where she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. Mrs. Tabor was trained as a school teacher and taught school first in Narragansett, RI and then in Sharon, MA before moving to Washington, DC with her husband in 1952. She was a homemaker for many years and then had a career as a civilian working for the Office of Naval Research in Arlington, VA until her retirement in 1985. Mrs. Tabor was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Clifford Tabor, Sr. and by her sisters Ann Eldred Barrat and Edith Eldred McCulloch. She is survived by her son and daughter in-law, Cliff and Karla Tabor, of Wakefield, RI and Coppell, TX; grandsons Andrew Tabor of Washington, DC and James Tabor of Wakefield, RI; and sister in law Mary Tabor Fuller of Peabody, MA. Visiting hours will be Thursday September 24, from 5 – 7pm at Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, RI. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Friday September 25 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 114 High Street, Wakefield. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
