Donna E. Woodworth

Donna Edith Woodworth (81) was born in Springfield, MA on November 26th, 1939 to Donald Elmo Woodworth and Anna Long Woodworth. She passed on November 3, 2021 surrounded by her beloved sister Annie, niece Christine, great niece Erin, and her “comfort cat” Butterscotch. Donna was raised in Springfield, MA where she lived with her sister, Annamae Minor Beyette, brother-in-law Henry J Beyette (Hank), and niece Christine Beyette (now Hickey). Until the age of 20, Donna was an honored member of Rainbow Girls. She attended East Congregational Church and graduated from Commerce High School in 1957. She went on to earn a BS from Westfield State Teachers’ College in 1962. She taught elementary school in Newton, MA before moving to Long Island where she earned a Masters in Education from Hoffstra University in 1969. Over the next 25 years in Smithtown, NY, she helped thousands of children learn to read. Donna was adventurous--traveling around the world by car, RV, train, and ship, most often with her sister, Annie and brother-in-law, Hank. She made new friends wherever she went. Donna created countless, beautiful quilts and mentored quilter friends in Narragansett Quilters and Southern Belles Quilters. They will miss her guidance and encouragement. Donna was a loyal friend and family member, committed educator, gifted crafter, compassionate caregiver to her sister, and generous supporter of social causes. She is survived by her sister Annamae Beyette, her niece, Christine Hickey, her great nieces, Erin Hickey and Rachel Valenti, and her great great nephew, Theodore Valenti. A memorial service will be held on November 27, 2021 at 1pm in Avery-Stori Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St Wakefield, RI.
