Donna Marie Masson

Donna Marie Masson, 71, of Westerly, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on September 18,

2022, after a long illness. Donna was born in Wakefield, R.I., and grew up in Green Hill. She

was the second oldest daughter of the late John and Pauline Masson. Donna graduated from

South Kingstown High School and soon became employed at The Washington Trust Company

Main Office in Westerly. During her 42-year career there, she earned the title of Assistant Vice

President and Branch Manager.

Donna loved to garden, spend time at the beach, and be with her family. She loved to laugh and

bring a smile to the faces of everyone around her. Donna was always the first to lend a helping

hand to friends and family and was known for her remarkable loyalty and generosity of spirit.

She was a dedicated volunteer and a former member of the Board of Directors at the Johnnycake

Center of Peace Dale. She was a kind and loving sister, aunt, and friend.

Donna leaves nine siblings: Deborah P. Gaffney of Warwick, R.I.; Candace J. Knapp, Elizabeth

A. Babcock, Michael R., Mark P., John H. III, Lucien T., & Patrick D. Masson of South

Kingstown, R.I., and Dayle P. Manning of Charlestown, R.I. She also leaves twenty-one nieces

and nephews and thirty-eight grandnieces and grandnephews, all of whom she cared for deeply.

In addition to her family, Donna cherished her lifelong friendships with Patricia Clark of South

Kingstown, R.I., and Georgette DeBernardo of Mystic, CT. She played a special role in

everyone’s life, and her presence will be dearly missed for her individuality, her wit, her love,

and her strength.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Johnnycake Center for Hope, 22

Kersey Road, Peace Dale, RI, 02879.

In accordance with her wishes, calling hours are omitted. There will be a Mass of Christian

Burial at St. James Chapel, 2079 Matunuck School House Road, Charlestown, R.I., on Saturday,

September 24th at 11 a.m.
