Donald F. Whicher

Donald F. Whicher,86, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2015. He was the husband of Lee (Manning) McKivergan-Whicher; step father of James B., Paul T., Daniel M. McKivergan and Ellen M. Frazier; Grandfather of eight and great grandfather of three. Born in Leominister, MA, he was the son of the late Raymond C. and Ruth A. (Cushman) Whicher. Mr. Whicher was a graduate of Littleton High School and University of New Hampshire. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. He worked for New England Power Co. in Salem and Somerset, MA for 36 years before retiring from management in 1992. He was active in the Masonic Lodge in Somerset, MA, the South Kingstown Dog Pound, Matunuck Community Association and Habitat for Humanity. Don was always there for friends and neighbors, repairing, fixing and helping them with a caring and loving spirit. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with visiting from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. Burial with military honors will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers donations to Habitat for Humanity or South Kingstown Dog Pound.
