Donald T. Baker, 88, of South Kingstown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 30, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Cecilia (Nowak) Baker for 59 years. Born in Attleboro, MA, he was the son of the late Henry H. and Bertha (Kay) Baker. He lived in Providence and Pawtucket, RI before moving to Cumberland, where he and his family lived for forty years. He then moved permanently to Matunuck where he had enjoyed summers his entire life. Mr. Baker graduated with a BS in Accounting from Bryant College. He served in the Korean War in Japan. Employed by Kemper Insurance, he retired after 33 years as the New England/Boston Branch Premium Audit Manager. He was a long time member of the Matunuck Point Beach Club Association and a communicant of St. Romuald Chapel in Matunuck. He also enjoyed south county beaches and gardening. Besides his wife, he is survived by his devoted children, Lauren and her husband, Jay, of Boston; Patricia and her husband, James, of Mercer Island, WA; and Steven and his wife, Jacquelyn, of Cranston. He also leaves seven grandchildren; Katie, James, Kevin, Russell, Kelly, Nicole and Matthew. He was the brother of the late Sally A. Baker. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Friday, October 6, 2017 in St. Romuald Chapel, Matunuck, Burial will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Johnnycake Center, 1231 Kingstown Rd, Peace Dale, RI 02879.
