Dolores A. Shaknaitis

Dolores A. Shaknaitis, 87, formerly of Waterbury, CT, and currently of South Kingstown, RI, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2024 at Brookdale South Bay. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Shaknaitis for 59 years until Joe’s passing in 2017.

Dolores was born July 28, 1937 in Waterbury, a daughter of the late Michael and Helen (DelGobbo) Palladino. She was a graduate of Catholic High School. Prior to her retirement, she worked for many years at different companies in the area as an HR representative. She passionately cheered her beloved New York Yankees, loved seafood, the sun and the beach, as well as traveling and going to the casino with her husband Joe. She was very proud of her Italian ancestry.

Dolores leaves two sons, Steven Shaknaitis and his wife Linda of South Kingstown, RI, and Christian Shaknaitis of Pittsburgh, PA, three grandchildren, Jeffrey, Andrew, and Kevin, as well as two great grandchildren, Theo and Arthur. She was predeceased by a daughter, Susan Shaknaitis, as well as a sister, Ginny Russo.

Dolores will be buried with her husband and daughter at the Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury at a later date. Services and burial will be private.
