Dolores
DiPrete
June 14, 1927 – April 10, 2026
Dolores (Pastore) DiPrete, of Narragansett, RI, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 10, 2026. Born June 14, 1927, to George and Emilia Pastore, Dolores was a lifelong resident of Cranston and Jerusalem.
Dolores married Walter A. DiPrete on October 7, 1950.
She lived her life to her final morning in the house she loved by the sea, always happiest with her grandchildren at the shore, tending to her garden and enjoying the birds and ocean views.
Dolores had a number of interests - cooking, sewing, quilting, smocking, antiquing, gardening, preserving, traveling and the Church. A founding member of the Meshanticut Garden Club, she loved planting, cultivating, flower arranging and harvesting home grown vegetables which she used in her cooking and canning.
A cook, a seamstress, a mother and a caretaker, she was generous with everything and everyone, sharing gifts from her kitchen and herself; the neighbors will miss her frittata, and Fayerweather will certainly miss her sewn and canned goods.
Graduating from Pembroke (now Brown University) in 1949, she remained active in her alumni class, attending reunions and serving as a Marshall for her 75th commencement.
She is survived by her children: Susan, Francis, Roberta and Peter, grandchildren Ryan, Ashley, Lauren, Peter John, Julian, Camille and great granddaughters Audrey, Chloe and Lily.
A devoted parishioner of Saint Francis of Assisi in Wakefield, Dolores continued to participate in mass remotely and receive communion at home up to the final Sunday prior to her passing.
A Visitation will be held at Avery-Storti, 88 Columbia Street, in Wakefield on Wednesday, April 15th from 4:00 - 7:00pm and on Thursday from 9:00 - 9:30am. Funeral Mass is at St. Francis of Assisi, 114 High Street, in Wakefield on Thursday, April 16th at 10:00am. Collation at 11:45 at Camden’s, 756 Kingstown Rd, Wakefield. All are invited.
In Lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High St. Wakefield, RI 02879.
