Dolores M. (Laurion) Bannister, 91, of South Kingstown, died peacefully at home on Sunday, January 27th. She was the wife of the late Henry Bannister. Born in Stafford Springs, CT, she was the daughter of the late Armand and Mary Dora (Bolieau) Laurion. She is survived by her five children and their spouses Paula Grey (Jay) of Wakefield, Christopher Bannister (Kathryn Jervis) of Hope Valley, Martha Crawford of Wakefield, Barbara Dawley (Steven) of Newark, VT, and Stephen Bannister (Linda) of Thornton, CO.; many grandchildren and great- grandchildren; and her sisters Claire Laurion of Pensacola, FL, and Gloria Redmond of Gulf Shores, AL. A graduate of Bryant College, Mrs. Bannister was a business teacher at Chariho Regional High School and South Kingstown High School. After retiring she volunteered for many years at Thundermist Health Center and the Center for Women's Health, Obstetrics, and Gynecology at South County Hospital, and for other organizations and causes. She was an active member of the Fayerweather Craft Guild and a long-time member and past president of the Little Rhody Thrummers. Over the past 30 years she generously shared her time and energy to teach many people throughout RI the traditional craft of rug hooking. Funeral service and burial will be private.
