Diane Marie (Spirito) Rielly, 62, passed away at home surrounded by her loving husband and son on Friday, September 19th, 2025 after a courageous battle with breast cancer and Leptomeningeal Disease.
Diane was born on June 23, 1963 in Providence, Rhode Island and was the daughter of the late Frank J. Spirito, Sr. of Wakefield and Paula R. Spirito of Narragansett. Diane was a graduated from Classical High School 1981 and Graduated with High Honors from Providence College in 1985. Before retiring, Diane was a Vice President and Software engineer for Citizen Bank for 40 years.
Diane was a devout Christian who loved and was faithful to the Lord. She was a communicant of Christ the King Church in Kingston for many years.
Diane was a passionate advocate for causes close to her heart. She was an avid supporter of Big Sisters, RICAN, The James D. Rielly Foundation, and the Boy Scouts of America of Rhode Island, among many other organizations across the region. Her generosity extended across borders, as she was a longtime sponsor to Chana, a child from Haiti, ensuring she had the support and care she needed. Diane also had a great love for animals, especially her Maltipoo, Sophie.
Diane will be lovingly remembered by her husband Mark J. Rielly for 20 years, and the proud mother of Tyler J. Rielly, who she affectionately referred to as her boo boo. She also leaves behind her brother Frank J. Spirito, Jr. and his wife Denise, her sister Linda Norman, her sister Paula A. Spirito, nine nieces and nephews, and one great nephew.
Often described as beautiful in every way—inside and out—Diane embodied kindness and empathy. Her nature was to give, to nurture, and to uplift. Whether through a warm smile, a thoughtful gesture, or her tireless support of others, she brought joy and light wherever she went. She will be deeply missed and her memory will be cherished always but never forgotten.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at 10 AM in Christ the King Church, 180 Old North Road, Kingston. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery, George Schaeffer Street, Peace Dale.
Calling hours for Diane will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 from 4 to 7 PM in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield, RI.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name can be made to James D. Rielly Foundation or RICAN Charlestown, RI
