Diana W. Smith, 90, of Wakefield, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, November 22, 2018. She was the wife of the late Robert O. Smith, 91, who passed away May 31, 2018. They had been married for 69 years. Diana was born in Yorkshire, England on December 1, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Dorothy (Brown) Wakefield. Diana attended Rhode Island State College (URI) and met her husband Bob there. She was employed at the Wakefield Trust Bank, South County Title Company and Kenyon & Aukerman Law Office. She enjoyed many years of volunteering at South County Hospital coffee shop, South County Museum and several historical societies. She was the co-owner with her husband of the Samuel E. Perry Grist Mill in Perryville, RI since 1986, where they ground Rhode Island grown flint corn and marketed Jonnycake meal. She is survived by her sister, Sally A. Kent of Exeter, RI and her daughter Judith H. Smith of Wakefield; three grandchildren, Robert J. Kisilywicz, Scott M. Kisilywicz and his wife Melissa and Laura Morin and her husband Daniel; nine great-grandchildren, Jack, Thomas, Benjamin, Andrew, Ashley, and Emily Kisilywicz, Nathan, Rylee and Rachel Morin, her son in-law Bruce Ellsworth and his wife Mary Ellen of Bradenton, Florida. She was the mother of the late Jill D. Ellsworth and the sister of the late Robert. C Wakefield. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Sunday, December 9, 2018, at 1:00pm in the Wakefield Baptist Church, 236 Main St. Wakefield. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Jill D. Ellsworth Scholarship Fund, Bryant University, 1150 Douglas Pike, Smithfield, RI 02917.
