Dennis Angelo Pierce born June 21st, 1955 passed away unexpectedly in Atlantic City on April 11th, 2015 at the age of 59. Dennis was born and raised in North Kingstown, RI and was predeceased in life by his loving parents Ruth L(Golding)Pierce and Paul Owen Pierce Sr. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 30 years Cathy Pierce of W. Kingston, RI , his dedicated son Matthew L Pierce of Charlestown, RI, his endearing daughter Kimberly(Pierce) Anderson and her husband Jake along with their two daughters, who were the apple of their Grampy’s eye, McKenna Rae and Landree Kate Anderson all of Charlestown, RI. He is also survived by six siblings, Ronald Pierce Sr. and his wife Lorraine of N. Kingstown, Paul Pierce Jr. and his fiancee Jennifer Blair of N. Kingstown, MaryEllen Pierce of N. Kingstown, Glenn Pierce and his fiancee Diane Harvey of N. Kingstown, Darlene Pierce of N. Kingstown, and Doreen(Pierce)Valiquette and her husband Ken of Charlestown,and his half sibling Tonya Pierce of Hopkinton. He was also the loving caretaker of Joey Dibiasio and Ed Silva of W. Kingston. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and cousins,and countless loyal friends. Dennis was a graduate of North Kingstown High School and while in attendance was very active in Future Farmers of America, at one time serving as State and National President of FFA. Prior to an injury, he loved being a volunteer firefighter. Through out his life he was a member of the Charlestown Richmond Fire Dept., West Kingston Fire Dept., and also served as the Chief of the Ladd Center Volunteer Fire Dept. Dennis worked for the State of Rhode Island as a Community Living Aide for 33 years until his retirement. Working with those with special needs was a passion for him, so much so he volunteered and was a strong supporter of the Rhode Island Special Olympics. Dennis was know as “Big Dog” by most, and all that knew him, knew of his love and passion for the sport of Golf. Dennis was a member of RIGA (Rhode Island Golfers Association) and Pinecrest Golf Course where he yearly put together the Bob Hayward Memorial Tournament honoring a true friend and mentor to him. Dennis recently wanted to devote his abilities to raise funds for the awareness and prevention of childhood obesity, hosting a self challenging GolfAThon of golfing 59 holes straight to raise money for a local organization dedicated to this cause. Simply put Dennis was an amazing man, who was there for anyone in need, lived life to the fullest yet always had his bags packed and was ready to go any time the Lord decided to take him. Calling hours will be held Wednesday April 22nd from 3-7pm with a prayer service immediately following at AveryStorti Funeral Home Wakefield RI. There will be an informal, open house in celebration of Dennis’s life Thursday April 23rd, at Pinecrest Golf Course, Carolina RI being at 12pm, with a eulogy to be delivered at 1pm.
