Dennis Grande, 59, of South Kingstown, RI, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and quiet strength. Born in Providence, RI, Dennis was the son of the late Alphonse Grande and Pasqualina Darezzo (Jacavone).
He is survived by his brother, Louie Grande, and sister-in-law, Michelle, of Weeki Wachee, FL. Dennis also leaves behind his nephews, Luigi Grande of Exton, PA, and Nicholas Grande of Norwich, CT; and his niece, Heather Grande-Ferrari, and her husband, Brandon, of Citrus Springs, FL. He was also a proud great-uncle to Anthony Grande and Angelo Grande-Ferrari.
Dennis will be remembered for his gentle nature, his deep loyalty to family and friends, and the warmth he brought to those lucky enough to know him. His presence will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
A dedicated public servant, Dennis devoted his entire adult life to the fire service, serving his community with courage, honor, integrity, and pride. He joined the Peace Dale Fire Department in 1989 and became a Life Member in 1999. Through his hard work and leadership, he rose through the ranks to become Captain in 2000—a position he held for over a decade. At the time of his passing, he was proudly serving as a Battalion Chief for the Union Fire District of South Kingstown.
In addition to his service as a firefighter, Dennis worked at Toray Plastics for over 20 years, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dependability.
Outside of his professional life, Dennis was an active member of the South Kingstown Veterans Firefighters Association for 35 years. He also found great joy in playing for and coaching the Peace Dale Fire Department softball team, a passion he maintained for more than three decades.
Dennis’s commitment to service, both in his career and his community, left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 27th from 4 pm to 7 pm in Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St. Wakefield, RI. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 28th at 10 am in Avery-Storti Funeral Home. Burial will follow at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Cranston.
