Dennis C. Hazard, a lifelong Rhode Island resident and longtime member of the Narragansett community, passed away on August 14, 2026, at South County Hospital.
Born and raised in South Kingstown by his parents, the late Herbert and Iola (Whitford) Hazard. Dennis was the husband of the late Donna M. Hazard for 31 years. The youngest of eight children, he was the brother of Iola Valles of Narragansett, Katherine Hall of Exeter, and the late Beverly Noka, Joyce Sewell, Joan Burrell, Donald Hazard Sr., and Frederick Hazard Sr. Dennis was the devoted father of five children: Adrienne Hazard of Narragansett, Holly Hazard of Charlestown, Terry Hazard of South Kingstown, Dennis C. Hazard Jr. of Narragansett, and Dawn Hazard of Preston, Connecticut.
He was also a loving grandfather to Heather Hazard, Uriah Hazard, Autumn Rain Johnson, and Kaleb Dominique. Dennis leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews.
He attended South Kingstown High School, where he was a member of the band and played basketball and later made Narragansett his home for more than 50 years. Dennis will be remembered for his deep roots in South County, his love of fishing, his hardworking nature, and the many connections he made throughout his life. Those who knew Dennis, also know that he was proud of his Narragansett and Mashantucket Pequot heritage. His family and friends will cherish his memory and the stories and experiences they shared with him.
Dennis proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam era. Throughout his working life, he held a variety of jobs, including positions with Hart Engineering and Manafort Brothers in construction and carpentry including work at Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun. Nearing 50 years with the Carpenters Union Local 330.
An avid fisherman, Dennis was well known throughout South County. Although he kept a small circle, he was known by many through fishing, weekend side work, and his church community.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 21st at Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Rhode Island.
The funeral service will be private.
