Deborah T. Pierik

Deborah T. Pierik., 86, of Holiday Court, Wakefield, died peacefully on Friday January 20. She was the wife of Dr. Michael G. Pierik. Born in South Dartmouth, Ma, daughter of the late Edwin R. and Esther (Rutter) Thomas, she had resided in Barrington and Richmond, RI. Mrs. Pierik was a graduate of the former Bradford Jr. College, Haverhill, MA, the former New England Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing, Boston, MA, and the University of Rhode Island. She devoted many years to the former Women’s Resource Center of South County as volunteer advocate and staff volunteer coordinator. She also assisted in the medical office of her husband. She enjoyed volunteer activities with clients of South Kingstown Adult Day Care Services. She was a member of the Kingston Congregational Church. Survivors include a son, Christopher T. Pierik of Los Angeles, CA, two daughters, Sarah Benjamin and her husband Antony of Brooklyn, NY and Lauren T. Pierik of San Francisco, CA. She had eleven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Anne T. Allen of South Dartmouth, MA. A memorial service will be held at 11 am Thursday May 11th in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St, Wakefield. Her family kindly requests that donations be made to the Domestic Violence Resource Center, 61 Main St., Wakefield, RI, 02879, www.dvrcsc.org.
