Dawna J. Bates, 52, of Wakefield, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, April 26, 2015. She was the loving beautiful wife of Stanley Bates for nine years. Born in Warwick, she was the daughter of Jane (May) LaFountain. Dawna worked as a custodian at the University of Rhode Island for the last ten years. Besides her husband she leaves a step-daughter, Monica Golding; sisters, Deborah Hope, Denise Hope, Darlene Hope and Dena Maine; a brother Douglas LaFountain; step brothers, Bruce and Peter McAlpine; six nieces and five nephews. A sweet, loving, caring, kind soul. She would go out of her way to help others. Anyone who met Dawna was instantly her friend, everyone loved her. Visiting hours will be Thursday, April 30, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. in Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. Burial will be private.
