David R. Redmond, Sr.

David R. Redmond, Sr., 75, of Wakefield, RI, passed away peacefully with family by his side on May 21, 2023. He was the loving son of the late Andrew and Esther Redmond. David was the loving husband of the late Linda (Taylor) Redmond.

David is survived by his children, David R. Redmond, Jr. and his wife Christine, Christopher M. Redmond and his wife Jennifer. He leaves behind 9 grandchildren, Kaitlin, Emily, Lauren, Lindsey, Zachary, Tyler, Connor, Andrew, Ryan and siblings Trudy Parker and Thelma Griego. He is predeceased by his siblings, Walter Redmond, Frank Redmond, Hugh Redmond, Vivian Cahoone and Carolyn Ellsworth.

David served his country in the United States Army and fought in the Vietnam War. During his service, he was awarded two purple hearts. As a lifetime resident of Wakefield, David worked at South County Hospital for 38 years. In his retirement, he enjoyed building model cars, woodworking and many visits with his Mother-in-Law, Dorothy Taylor, whom he loved very much. He was a lifetime member of the South Kingstown Forest Fire Department.

A burial will be held on May 25, 2023, at Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 S. County Trail, Exeter, Rhode Island, at 12:15 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation, 249 Roosevelt Avenue, Suite 201, Pawtucket, RI 02860.
