David E. Preble, born on February 9th, 1943, passed away on April 10th, 2023, at the age of 80. He was surrounded by his family in his final moments.
David is survived by his loving wife, Meredith Preble, his two sons, Eric Preble and Aaron Ferrante-Alan, and his stepson, Justin Lallo.
David's education included a B.S. in Biology and an M.S. in Physiology. He dedicated his career to education, serving as a Science Teacher in the public school system for over 20 years. During the summer months, he was the Captain/Owner of the sport fishing charter vessel, "Early Bird." An avid outdoorsman, he spent much of his free time boating, fishing, and hunting, and was an excellent competitive marksman. He shared his love for the outdoors with his family, creating countless memories together.
A subject matter expert in fisheries ecosystem management, David was a consultant to the New England Fisheries Council, contributing his knowledge and expertise to the industry and participating in international treaty negotiations shaping global fisheries resource management. He also shared his passion for the outdoors and the ocean as an accomplished author of multiple books and as contributing editor to a popular magazine that catered to anglers and boaters.
David's legacy will continue to live on through his family, his work, and his contributions to the community and fisheries management. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A funeral service will be held at New Fernwood Cemetery on Friday, April 14th, at 1 PM, and will be open to the public.
