David Perkins

August 8, 1938 — September 19, 2023

David G. Perkins, 85, of Charlestown passed away surrounded by his family on September 19th, 2023. Even though he tried to resist, old age got the best of him.

Born in New Bedford on August 8th, 1938 he was the son of the late Kenneth R. Perkins and Marguerite Leonard. He was predeceased by his brother Kenneth, his sister Barbara (Punk), and his daughter Kimberly. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Elizabeth (Beth) T. Perkins and their beloved dog Blue as well as his children Robin, Catherine, Wendi, and Mark; his grandchildren Kara, Ashley, Thomas, Linsay, Mark, David, Hailey, Reed and Taylor, his great grandchildren Bria, Thomas, Cameron, Aria, and Aslynn, and his nieces and nephews Greg, Steven, Deb, and Shawn.

David was a dedicated lifelong carpenter with a great love of building things -anything and everything. He was a star football player in high school. He was very proud of his job in Belnaves bakery in Peace Dale Flatts. He worked for several years at Electric Boat in Quonset. He served as a sergeant for the South Kingstown Police Department in the 1960’s, and most importantly he was our superhero.

His charm, his wit and his famous wink will never be forgotten.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 23rd from 10-11 am followed by a funeral service at 11 am in Avery-Storti funeral home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield RI.
