David E. Flynn

David E. Flynn of Charlestown, RI, 61, died on September 16, 2018. Son of Robert (deceased) and Sally Flynn of Charlestown, Rhode Island, father of Jordan Leighty (Rachel), Rita Jones (Jeremy) and Robert Flynn; grandfather to Jenna, Jordan and Jacob Leighty. He is survived by his children and brothers William (Sharon), Michael (Tracy), and Brian (Kerry) and the mother of his children, Diane Flynn; nieces and nephews Eric (Virginia), Christine (Joseph), Sarah (James), Elizabeth (Ian), Sarah Angell and Luke, and Linda Robinson companion of 6 years. He was also the brother of the late Robert (Roseanne). Born in Bridgeport, CT on July 22, 1957, Dave worked as a conductor for Conrail and Amtrak for 41 years before retiring last year. A Union Official for the Smart Transportation Division. He served as a Local Chairman for Local 1672, Legislative Representative and Delegate. He recently moved to Charlestown from Killingworth, CT. He loved the outdoors, the beach and all that the natural world had to offer, often reminding people to be, grateful for another day. An avid hiker, Dave was a member of the Appalachian Mountain Club, New England Over 40 Hiking Group, amongst others. There was never anything too old or broken that he wouldnt try to fix. Dave was a friend of Bill W. for 16 years. Calling hours are from 4-8pm Thursday, September 20th.
